Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Government College for
Women, situated at the heart of Haryana, Jind, is affiliated to Chaduhary
Ranbir Singh University, Jind. It was established by the Government of Haryana
with the noble objective of imparting higher education to women at time when
there was no other government college for women in the entire district. The
college commenced its functioning from the academic year 2005 with the strength
of 500 students and 10 faculty members offering degree in Arts and Commerce, in
the P.G block’s building of Government College Jind. Presently, it has the
strength of almost 2811 students and 79 teaching faculty members. The college
was shifted in its own building in 2012 which was inaugurated by former
Chief-Minister of Haryana Honorable Sh.Bhupender Singh Hooda on 3 June, 2012.
The campus of the college is of almost 28123 sq.metres (around 6.94 acres) in
which covered area is about 4720sq meters.
The college has been
accredited with grade A+ in PRAYAAS and recognized as one of the colleges of
excellence by the government of Haryana in 2019. Recently, NAAC Peer team
visited this college from 07.10.2021 to 08.10.2021. This college has been
accredited Grade ‘B’ by NAAC.
