On the occasion of Geeta Jayanti, Geeta Shloka recitation competition and Geeta quiz competition were organised by the Sanskrit Department under the chairmanship of Principal Mr. Jainarayan Gahlawat in Government Women's College, Jind on 2-12-2025.
College students enthusiastically participated in the competition. Participants presented selected verses from various chapters of the Gita with correct pronunciation, vocal beauty, and meaning.
The quiz competition focused on the Gita's chapters, key principles, character traits, and the Gita's historical and philosophical aspects. Students participated enthusiastically and demonstrated a keen interest in the knowledge of the Gita.
Dr. Amarjit Kaur, Dr. Urmil Sharma, and Mrs. Anita Devi served as judges. The judges evaluated the participants based on accuracy of pronunciation, expression, and confidence.
In the Shloka recitation competition, Varsha, a second-year BA student, took first place, Annu, a first-year BA student, took second place, and Isha, a second-year BA student, took third place. In his address, the college principal stated that the Bhagavad Gita is not merely a religious text, but a universal guide to life management, providing the young generation with direction in duty, discipline, and self-confidence. He described such cultural and educational events as extremely useful for the overall development of students.
At the end of the program, Dr. Suman, Head of the Sanskrit Department, thanked Principal Mr. Jai Narayan Gehlawat, Assistant Professor Ajit Singh, the jury, and all the participants. This event proved to be a significant contribution to the cultural and ideological activities of the college's female students and succeeded in inspiring new students to study the Bhagavad Gita.
